DIT School of Computing will play host to the launch of CanSat Leinster in conjunction with Space Week. The event will take place in DIT Kevin ST, Gleeson Hall from 10am-1pm on Thursday, October 6th. CanSat is a national event that gives schools the chance to design, build, launch and analyse sensor readings using little more than a soft drinks can and a micro-controller.
Attendees have the opportunity to learn about CanSat from guest speakers including national winners and European runners-up, Confey College. Dr. Oisín Creaner will give an entertaining talk about science and astronomy. This year’s event will allow invited schools to participate in workshops where they will carry out research on the topic of space. Teams will create a short (3 minute) promotional video using the School of Computing’s media production facilities. Videos will be hosted by DIT and made available to the public via the Space Week page.
