Space Week – The Universe in Your Class!

October 3 – 8 2016

Space Week is Ireland’s newest national STEM week in parallel with World Space Week. It is YOUR week to focus on the wonders and realities of the Universe around us.

Participating in Space Week with your class means you will use the powers of creativity, critical thinking, science, technology, engineering and maths to help shape your understanding of life on Earth and our place in Space.

How to get involved?  And get FREE Space Week goodies!

Taking part in Space Week is very easy and there are lots of ways to do this

  • COMPLETE ONE OF OUR CLASSROOM TOOLKITS that can boldly take your class where no class has gone before! (ok – not really, these have all been tested and trialled).   These English and Irish toolkits are based on two different themes and each theme includes a variety of activities, with suggested class levels and a DPSM/ESERO Framework for inquiry overview. Tell us you are doing this by registering on our website and then once we approve your account you can upload your event.  Mr Russel’s 5th class in St. Stephens in Waterford are doing this – check out their event here

  • TRY OUT ONE OF OUR SPACE IDEAS IN YOUR CLASSROOM which can be found here, or – create your own space activity. Tell us you are doing this by registering on our website and uploading this as an event in the exact same way as above.

  • GET YOUR OWN PICTURE OF THE MOON in what should be the largest event of its type in the world! The images emailed to each school will be compiled together at the end of Space Week to show the changing phases of the Moon. You can find all of the details hereTell us you are doing this by registering on our website and uploading this as an event in the exact same way as above.

  • TAKE PART IN OUR SPACE WEEK CPD and explore a range of ESERO resources from our Mars toolkit mentioned above. This is the perfect way to get some useful tips and learning techniques to promote children’s learning and understanding of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths. You can find all of the details here
