Scaling distances of the planets from the Sun

Students (first years) use actual distances of the planets from the Sun. These are then scaled to fit in the school yard. The technology block doubles as the Sun. Eight students double as the planets. We walk from the technology block to the other side of the yard with a trundle wheel. We drop off each ‘planet’ at its scaled distance.
